Support for Children Affected by a Family Member’s Mental Health Issues

“Kids in Control,” offers education and support to children between the ages of 8-13 years who have been affected by a parent/family member’s mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

This group provides knowledge about mental health challenges in a safe, accepting environment where kids can connect with others who have similar experience.

8 sessions, meeting once a week for 1 ½ hours
Arts, crafts, and interactive learning opportunities
Next Group begins October 11, 2017 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

We get many requests to run anxiety workshops for children. Our next course starts July 5th.

This parenting group is designed around the increasing concern of children’s anxiety. In this 4 week program, discussions will centre on the biological nature of anxiety, parenting children with anxiety, children’s anxiety through separation and divorce, and effective strategies for helping a child with their anxiety.

Parenting: Creating Connected & Caring Relationships with Your Kids

A supportive, educational and non-judgmental group for parents who are wanting to improve the relationship they have with their children and create an effective parenting tool box.

This group is a safe space to share and explore any experiences, including difficulties you are having within your role as a parent and provides knowledge about how to create and sustain a happy, healthy, and love-filled parent-child relationships. Group work and activities are based on the works of leading attachment parenting experts.

  • 6 Sessions, meeting once a week for 2 hours
  • In group learning & activities to help identify where parenting issues exist and how to create better alternatives
  • Single or partnered parents, with kids aged 0-14, are welcome
  • Next group begins May 24, 2017 at 6:00 – 8:00 pm
