The goal of the program is to ensure fair access to income support and services through information, referrals, supports and one-on-one advocacy in the following areas:
The advocate works directly with clients to educate them about their legal rights, explain options for legal problem solving and, where appropriate, assist with dispute resolution and/or representation at hearings before boards and tribunals. The advocate will also promote awareness of the legal advocacy program and its activities. The program aligns with our core mission to assist individuals and families to enhance their lives through the provision of information, programs, and services.
Clients can access the program through personal or professional referrals. At this time the services provided through the Community Law program will be by appointment only. The clinic is held every 2nd Wednesday – Family Law and every 3rd Wednesday Civil, criminal, estate Law of each month. The clinics are held at LCSS Welcome Centre. The Family Law Program provides legal information, guidance, and support to individuals and families navigating family-related legal matters. The program helps clients understand their rights, responsibilities, and available resources while promoting safety, well-being, and informed decision-making.
