This program connects newcomers in Canada to local professionals with similar employment background and experience in the field or job the newcomers are targeting, and with the licensing body (or professional associations) that certifies the specific regulated occupations they are hoping to get into. The program aims to fast-track their transition into the Canadian workplace. Newcomers (mentees) are matched with professionals (mentors) for a minimum of 4 mentorship meetings up to 6 months where they can talk about labour market information, industry and profession, Canadian workplace culture, occupation-specific terminologies, certification process, and job search strategies.
Participant Eligibility
- Foreign-trained newcomers targeting careers in regulated professions (include immigrants, Temporary Foreign Workers, international students and their professional family members)
- Landed in Canada for not more than 10 years
- Residents of BC
- Able to commit to mentoring activities up to 6 months
- Ready to get a job
